INTRODUCTION : In recent years, Coleus forskohlii has gained recognition As the only known plant source of the
diterpene, Forskolin. Forskolin is valued as an adenylate cyclase activator. The role of cyclic AMP is indispensable to many body functions. Intensive research has been carried on since 1974 for its use as a food supplements and subsequently as a drug.
The latest news on the thermogenic circuit is coleus forskohlii. Research on the active compound forskolin was performed at the University of Memphis. In one study, weight loss from the forskolin group exceeded that of the placebo group (both groups exercised); appears to have some benefit. Toxicity data is still limited.

Two preliminary studies with ForsLean
Study on the patented form of coleus was conducted by Sabinsa Corporation to evaluate the effect of ForsLean on the body mass composition of overweight individuals. ForsLean was orally administered to 4 overweight female volunteers for 12 weeks. The results showed that mean lean body mass significantly increased by 7.2 lbs from week 0 to week 12. Although not significant, percent body fat was reduced by 2.9 percent from week 0 to 12. And, no significant differences were observed in blood biochemistry or vital signs (e.g., pulse rate, systolic blood pressure values, appetite, or energy levels).
In the second clinical study, 6 overweight female volunteers received the ForsLean formula twice daily for 8 weeks. During the eight-week trial, the mean values for bodyweight and fat content significantly decreased, whereas lean body mass significantly increased compared to baseline values. Again this study showed no adverse effects associated with coleus supplementation.
In 1994, the U.S. government enacted the Dietary Supplement and Education Act. Dietary Supplement Education Alliance states :

What's more, coleus may be involved in enhancing yet another complex chain of events that support strong, healthy, blood vessels and cardiovascular tissue.
